01The terminal in the port
Steinwerder: a cruise start in the middle of the container port
The Cruise Center Steinwerder lies south of the Elbe at the Kaiser-Wilhelm-Hafen, not far from the Old Elbe Tunnel – according to Hamburg Tourismus, in the middle of the container port. It has been in operation since June 2015. For 2026 the call list of the operator Cruise Gate Hamburg records 172 ship calls here, more than at any other Hamburg terminal.
With Hansa Parking you do not park in the port but in our car park at Modering 1. Your key stays with you, and our shuttle takes care of the journey to the terminal – there and back.

How you get to the Cruise Center Steinwerder with us
Three stops there, three back. Our free shuttle covers the way between car park and terminal.
On departure day
Modering 1 car park
You drive to our car park (maximum entrance height 2.00 m), pay on site by debit card, credit card or in cash and keep your key.
Free shuttle
Our shuttle takes you and your luggage to the port – daily between 07:00 and 18:00, as needed rather than to a fixed timetable. The approx. 20 minutes are the driving time alone.
Cruise Center Steinwerder
Buchheisterstraße 16. We stop right in the pick-up zone in front of the terminal. Luggage drop-off and check-in take place inside the terminal, departures go through the western part of the building. You can usually board until 17:00.
On return day
Cruise Center Steinwerder
Ships usually berth here at 07:00 or 08:00. Arriving passengers leave the terminal through the eastern part of the building; every guest disembarks by about 10:00.
Shuttle back
You reserve your pick-up time and seat online in advance – with your own boarding pass; we then collect you in the pick-up zone in front of the terminal. If your journey ends with a flight, we collect you at Hamburg Airport – the transfer is free of charge then too.
Modering 1 car park
Back at your car – the key was with you the whole time.

Between shipyard and Elbe tunnel
For companions and anyone meeting you who has no car: this is how the terminal can be reached by bus, ferry and on foot. Your own way to the ship is with our shuttle.

Old Elbe Tunnel to the Landungsbrücken
The walk through the tunnel takes about 10 – 15 minutes. Bus 156 runs to the tunnel entrance from Argentinienbrücke (Mon – Sat).

The landing stage is about 450 m from the terminal. The ferry runs Mon – Fri every 40 minutes to the Landungsbrücken.

Bus 256
Stops right at the terminal (“Kreuzfahrtterminal Steinwerder” stop) on Saturdays all year round, on Sundays only from April to October. It runs daily from Argentinienbrücke to Veddel S-Bahn station.

Yes. Our free shuttle takes you from the car park at Modering 1 to the Cruise Center Steinwerder, Buchheisterstraße 16, 20457 Hamburg, in about 20 minutes' driving time and stops right in the pick-up zone in front of the terminal. After your cruise we collect you there or at Hamburg Airport.
02Do I park right at the terminal?
No. During your cruise your car stays in our car park at Modering 1, 22457 Hamburg, and your car key stays with you. The parking areas at the terminal are part of the offer of the terminal operator Cruise Gate Hamburg; Hansa Parking is an independent provider.
03What are the shuttle's operating hours?
Our shuttle service runs daily from 07:00 to 18:00. Outside these hours no transfer is possible. There is no fixed timetable – we drive as needed; the approx. 20 minutes are the driving time alone.
04When does check-in start in Steinwerder?
The check-in window is set by your cruise line. You will find it in your travel documents. According to the operator Cruise Gate Hamburg, the terminal itself is only open around the ships' arrival and departure times.
05Where do I drop off my luggage?
Luggage drop-off and check-in take place inside the terminal. Our shuttle takes you there with your luggage. In Steinwerder, departures go through the western part of the building.
06How does the pick-up after the cruise work?
You reserve the pick-up time (9 or 11 am) online in advance with your fixed seat reservation. We collect you in the pick-up zone in front of the terminal and take you back to your car at Modering 1. On the morning of arrival every guest leaves the ship by about 10:00. If your journey ends with a flight to Hamburg, we collect you at the airport.
